Types of Statements

Empirical statements are different from analytic statements because their truth or falsity depend on the state of affairs being claimed. Here, the knowledge claim being made is not dependent on definitions or tautologous statements whose truths are contained within itself, but the truth or falsity being claimed by an empirical statement rests on its correspondence with facts or with the current state of affairs being claimed.
